A large, lidded, tulip-shaped glass-blown goblet on a foot, decorated with ribbing on the lower section and engraved with an allegory of marriage depicting a couple pursued by Cupid, centred on a column surmounted by two joined hearts, within a network of rocaille-style interlacing, floral mosaics and shells, beneath a marquis’s crown, with an inscription in Dutch: ‘Les Reeks vanvyeent wintig iaaren / schonk god uw na’tegt vergaaren’, the leg carved with flat ribs, gold fillets on the edges. Holland or Belgium, 18th century. H. 37.5 cm.
