Description
SUBLIGNY, Adrien-Thomas Perdoux de – *La Muse Dauphine* addressed to His Highness the Dauphin. Paris, Claude Barbin, 1667. Small 12mo, (8) folios, 290 pages, the last folio numbered 206, paper slightly yellowed, top trimmed short, 19th-century flamed calfskin, plain spine with decoration; upper corner worn. VIOLLET LE DUC. Cat. ROTHSCHILD I, 901. First edition. ‘Subligny was a lawyer in Paris, the author of several plays, initially writing critiques and later defences of Racine. *La Muse dauphine* is a follow-up to Loret’s *Gazette*; it began on Thursday 3 June 1666 and continued without interruption until 24 December of the same year. Subligny, like Loret, includes political news, city gossip, etc.” Ex-libris of Viollet Le Duc and stamp of Gustave Mouravit. A long note in his own hand in which he notes the rarity of this edition.
