Description
[BLUE LIBRARY] – CHAURAND, Honoré, S.J.] - The Proper Confession of the True Penitent, in which is taught the manner to be avoided, and that to be followed, when declaring one’s sins at the Tribunal of Penance. Troyes, Jean Garnier, c. 1754. In-16, 36 pp., woodcut on the title page, candle paper, trimmed slightly short, black half-leather binding. MORIN (Bibliothèque bleue de Troyes) no. 11, variant. The first edition cited by Sommervogel was published in Troyes by Garnier in 1724. Chaurand (Valensolle (Basses-Alpes) 1615 – Avignon 1697) taught grammar, the humanities and rhetoric for seven years. He then devoted himself to preaching and became famous for establishing hospitals in Avignon, Rome and other cities.
