First edition published by Father du Cerceau of these epigrams, a number of which are modelled on Martial. Preceded by a substantial treatise on the genre of the epigram. Contains, by this elegant and witty poet, on p. 280: ‘On the Satire against Women’ (by Boileau) and on p. 391 ‘Orpheus’, a paraphrase of a Spanish ‘redondilla’ by Don Francisco de Quevedo. Sénecé (Mâcon 1643 – 1737) was first valet to Queen Marie-Thérèse.
