LE MOYNE, Pierre – *Saint Louys, or the Holy Crown Reclaimed*. A heroic poem. Paris: Augustin Courbé, 1658. In-12, (62) folios including the frontispiece, 579 (2) pages, 18 full-page engravings and 18 emblem vignettes at the head of each book by François Chauveau, bound in ultramarine blue morocco, triple stitching. gilded on the covers, fleurs-de-lis at the corners, decorated ribbed spine, internal dentation, gilt edges (DAVID).
VIOLLET LE DUC 547. SOMMERVOGEL V, 1366. Largely original edition. An epic poem which enjoyed a certain degree of renown (six editions from the original in 1653 up to this one, and included in the collected poetic works in 1671 and 1672). The original edition comprised only seven books and was expanded in 1658 to 18 books. A narrative drawn from the Third Crusade, blending legends and historical accounts, recounting the exploits of the French in Egypt and at Damietta. The *Treatise on the Heroic Poem* (100 pp.), placed at the beginning, is in its first edition.
