One of the comedies, a collective work by the ‘Five Authors’ whom Richelieu had set to work under his direction: Boisrobert, Colletet, Corneille, L’Estoile and Rotrou. These authors divided up the acts of the plays for which the Cardinal had drawn up the outlines. However, Corneille’s involvement in *L’Aveugle de Smyrne* appears doubtful.
