HERAULT DE SECHELLES, Marie-Jean – *A Journey to Montbar*, containing highly interesting details on Buffon’s character, person and writings; followed by *Reflections on Declamation*, an *Eulogy of Athanase Auger* and other literary pieces by the same author. Paris, Solvet, Year IX (1801). 8vo, XII, 136 pp., (1) folio of errata, a few foxing spots, half-leather with a flamed pattern, decorated ribbed spine. Second edition, partly original, published by A. L. Millin. The first edition appeared in 1785 without the author’s acknowledgement. His visit to Buffon took place in 1785. For the first time in the history of literary genres, he adopted the lively style of a report in which questions and answers follow one another at a brisk pace. The other, largely unpublished, short works were compiled by Millin after his death.
