A counterfeit of the edition published by Conlon (III, 35250) in 296 pp. The Memoirs, written with the utmost truthfulness, recount the author’s youth. Later, the Marquis d’Argens bitterly regretted having published them. “Of all my works,” he said, “the one I most regret having published is my Memoirs.
