First edition of this collection compiled by François Duval de Tours, bringing together over 200 plays published over the last twenty years or previously unpublished, including works by: Bussy-Rabutin, Pavillon, Houdar de la Mothe, Regnier, Mme Deshoulières, La Fare, Chaulieu, Perrault, Du Cerceau, Méré, the Countess de Murat, Racine, La Monnoye, Regnard, Chapelle, etc. It also includes eight previously unpublished pieces by La Fontaine: ‘Sur la galle’ – ‘Réponse d’une dame à un songe de son amant’ – six epistles to Mme de Thiange and Messrs de Niert, de Turenne and de Vendosme – Verses composed for each season for an almanac presented as a New Year’s gift by the King to Mademoiselle de Fontange in 1681 – On Marriage, and an ode by Voltaire (under the pseudonym Arouet): *Le Vrai Dieu*.
