Longepierre (Dijon 1659–1721) was tutor to the Count of Toulouse and the Duke of Chartres, and later entered the service of the Duchess of Berry. He wrote several plays and translated Greek authors. A refutation of Charles Perrault’s *Parallèle des Anciens et des Modernes*, published in the same year.
