In which are described various battles, assaults, the capture of towns, foreign wars, French victories, comic tales, popular uprisings, riots, and remarkable events that have taken place in Rouen over the past forty years. Small 8vo, (8) folios, 484 pp., second title page on p. 63, one doubled leaf with small marginal losses, yellowed paper, a few leaves trimmed short, copy washed with faded printing and bleeding, red morocco binding, triple gold thread on the covers, decorated ribbed spine, internal dentation, gilt edges. FRÈRE I, 462. First collected edition of the periodical entitled *La Muse normande*, dedicated to the Duke of Longueville. Like the original, it is divided into 28 parts dated from 1621 to 1652 and constitutes a sort of gazette written in the Norman dialect, though it contains textual differences. ‘An invaluable collection for anyone wishing to understand the customs and spirit of the people of Rouen and the major events that took place in Rouen during the first half of the 17th century.’
