Attributed to Hortense de Mancini, Mazarin’s niece, who is said to have written her memoirs with the help of Saint-Réal. An account of her adventurous life. She preferred to flee rather than tie her life to that of a capricious husband. The account ends when the duchess settled in Chambéry, the town where she met both Saint-Réal and the Duke of Savoy. The letter that follows contains a portrait of the duchess.
