BRÉCOURT, Guillaume Marcoureau de – *L'Ombre de Molière*. Comedy (à la sphère). Based on the copy printed in Paris, 1683. Small 12mo, 36 pp., paper slightly yellowed, a few light stains, red Bradel-style half-leather binding.
First published in 1674, written shortly after the playwright’s death. Brécourt, a former member of Molière’s troupe, helped, through this play, to popularise the idea of Molière as a defender of morality and an opponent of excess.
