L'HÉRITIER DE VILLANDON, Marie-Jeanne] – *Bigarures ingénieuses, or A Collection of Various Gallant Pieces in Prose and Verse* (à la sphère). Based on the Paris edition, Jean Guignard, 1696. Small 12mo, (4) folios, 352 pp., small light stain on the title page, root-cut calf, triple gilt thread on the covers, plain decorated spine, small loss to the upper cap, a few spots.
LACHÈVRE III, 420. LEVER 334. Contains five short stories. First published under the title *Oeuvres meslées* (1695). The last is entitled: Le Parnasse reconnoissant, ou le triomphe de Madame Des-Houlières, (dedicated) to Mademoiselle de Scuderi. The other four were dedicated to Mademoiselle Perrault, Madame Le Camus, the Duchess of Épernon and the Countess of Murat. Marie Jeanne L’Héritier (1664–1734), Charles Perrault’s niece, was much loved by the Duchess of Longueville and very close to Madame Deshoulières. She was admitted as a member of the Accademia dei Ricovrati in Padua in 1692, and of the Académie des Jeux Floraux in 1696.
