The first work by Desforges-Maillard (1699–1772) published in bookshops under the pseudonym Mademoiselle de Malcrais de la Vigne. Initially rejected by *Le Mercure* under her own name, this literary hoax earned her much praise, including from Destouches and Voltaire. Ode II refers to Voltaire’s *Henriade* and Ode IV to *Le Parnasse François* by M. Titon du Tillet.
