By Nichols Donneraill, of County Korke, descendant of the author. Printed at Waterford (Paris), capital of Mommonie, 1785. 4 parts in 4 vols. in-12, 236 pp., pp. 237–496; 268 pp., pp. 269–556, a few foxing spots, red morocco plate, paperback binding, triple gold thread on the covers, decorated ribbed spine, internal dentation, gilt head. (BELZ-NIÉDRÉE). DRUJON 963. RIVES CHILDS 286. The only edition of this roman à clef, which features several short, realistic vignettes and scenes of Parisian street life. It was one of the works the author found most difficult to have approved by the censors, owing to the mischievous allusions that did not spare the royal family. Restif would later acknowledge this when he made the following revelation in *Mes Ouvrages*: ‘The names are anagrammed in this work: for it must be admitted here that the allusions to our royal family, so feared by Terrasson, were true…’
