LAUGIER, Marc-Antoine – Observations on Architecture. The Hague, published in Paris, Desaint, 1765. In-12, XVI, 326 pp., marbled fawn calfskin of the publisher’s, plain spine with decoration.
First edition. Complements the *Essai sur l’architecture* published in 1753. A substantial part of the work is devoted to ‘the method of drawing up building plans’. Laugier adopts a freer approach than in the *Essai*. He draws parallels between the art of the architect and that of the landscape gardener, and takes an interest in novel configurations, espousing an anti-academic viewpoint.
