Description
COCHIN, Charles-Nicolas – Vignettes for the History of Languedoc. Paris, Widow of F. Chereau, n.d. (c. 1745). Oblong 8vo, title page, 52 copperplate engravings, 19th-century mahogany-coloured calf binding, covers decorated with a ‘à la Du Seuil’ frame featuring fleurs-de-lis at the corners, gilt title in the centre, on the back cover, the monogram ‘H’.
A collection of fifty-two vignettes engraved by Cochin, Tardieu and de Poilly, mainly after Cazes and Homblot, to illustrate the *History of Languedoc* by Dom Claude de Vic and Dom Joseph Vaissette. First published between 1730 and 1745. A copy probably belonging to Henri V, Count of Chambord (1820–1883).
