THE ELITE OF POETRY (SIC) — heroic and gallant poems of the present day. Supplemented by several previously unpublished manuscripts. (à la sphère). Printed this year, 1695. Small 12mo, 120 pp., burgundy half-morocco in Bradel style (C. HONNELAÎTRE).
LACHÈVRE III, 93. GAY II, 85. This collection, containing 108 pieces, follows that of 1683. Among the longer pieces it contains: *L’Occasion perdue recouvrée*, which Lachèvre (II, 278) states was written by Benech de Cantenac (c. 1606–1691), described as a ‘very free play’ and long attributed to Corneille - *La Métamorphose des yeux de Philis en astres* by Rotrou - *Le Temple de la Mort*, by Philippe Habert. It includes verses by Benserade, Boileau, Corneille, Furetière, La Fontaine, Racan, Mathurin Régnier, Richelet, Sarasin, Scarron and Théophile de Viau, though all had previously appeared in earlier collections.
