Description
[COAL MINES] – Decree of the King’s Council of State, laying down regulations for the working of coal mines. (Paris), 14 January 1744. In-4, 7 pp., red half-leather in Bradel style.
Following a report to the King by State Councillor Philibert Orry, who from 1741 had placed the intendants in charge of the administration of the mines, a decree comprising eleven articles was adopted. It sets out the conditions for the operation of coal mines and several points concerning their practical organisation, particularly with regard to safety.
