A collection of works relating to the texts and culture of Antiquity, comprising:
- MAURRAS (Charles). *Anthinea, from Athens to Florence*. Paris, published at the artist’s own expense, 1955.
Folio in loose sheets in a padded green folder and publisher’s slipcase, an illustrated edition featuring 30 chiselled engravings by Camille-Paul Josso.
Limited edition of 220 copies, numbered and signed by the artist; this copy is no. 72, one of 40 printed on B. F. K. de Rives paper, comprising a series of proofs of ‘Auvergne’ by Val de Laga, a set of double plates on pearlescent Japanese paper and a sketch. This copy is enhanced with an additional pencil drawing accompanied by a signed autograph dedication from the artist.
- AESOP. The Fables of Aesop the Phrygian. Paris, published by L’Emblème du Secrétaire, 1941. In-4 in loose sheets with a grey cloth-bound cover and publisher’s slipcase, an illustrated edition featuring 20 engravings by André Collot and enriched with quatrains at the end of each fable. Limited edition of 242 numbered copies; this one is no. 134, one of 170 printed on Arches vellum paper, including a suite of preliminary compositions.
- ERASMUS. In Praise of Folly. [Nancy], Beaux Livres, Grands Amis, 1964. Folio in loose sheets with a flap cover and publisher’s slipcase, an illustrated edition featuring a copperplate engraving by Pierre-Yves Trémois printed on the Lacourière-Frélaut presses. Original translation by Pierre Mesnard. Limited edition of 250 numbered copies on Arches vellum; this copy is no. XIV, one of the 150 reserved for members of Beaux Livres, Grands Amis.
