Description
Master’s piece by a master cooper Made of wood, including oak and wicker. Consisting of a pyramid of twenty-one small barrels, all with a round cross-section except for the top one, which is oval. Assembled with staves and wicker hoops. Complemented by five small tapping spouts. Circa 1800 H. 54 cm – W. 56.5 cm One spout missing; wicker hoops detached and missing Reproduced in the book ‘La passion du savoir-faire – Collection Pierre Hénin’, Atelier Baie, 2011, page 103. It is noted that each joint stave between the barrels has been re-drilled, allowing the liquid to flow from one small barrel to the next, with the whole assembly thus forming a single large container.
