Description
Clog-maker’s sign Made of weathered monoxyl wood and wrought iron. It takes the form of a clog carved in the round, with a very pronounced heel. It bears the carved inscription: ‘ICI ON CHAUSSE DE BOIS’ (‘HERE WE MAKE WOODEN CLOGS’), placed on the only visible side. It is accompanied by a large, open daisy with leaves, carved on the instep. The toe is carved with the face of a moustachioed man, his slightly curly hair tied back in a ponytail. The heel is accented by a thick cord.
