Description
A small pair of clogs
Made from carved, single-piece, stained poplar. The shoes, straps and plate are all carved from a single piece of wood (a feat of woodcarving). On the openwork plate, an elegant sprig of lily of the valley is carved, along with the monogram ‘F.G’ and the date ‘1931’ on the reverse. A sprig of lily of the valley is also carved on each upper of the clogs.

Ref: ‘L’art en sabot’ by Roger Verdier, Editions du Cabinet d’expertises, 1993, volume 2, page 163. A very similar model is reproduced in the book and is reportedly held at the Henri Delaire Museum (Montmorin Castle Museum).
