Snuffbox Carved from boxwood. Rectangular in shape, with a recessed lid. On one side, it bears the surname ‘EUGENE ESNAULT’ in two lines. In the centre, the monogram ‘FH’ is set within a laurel wreath, flanked by four floral spandrels. On the other side, a worker is using a power saw. This side bears the location ‘LA FERTE MACE’ and the date ‘1904’. A signature on the edge: ‘Ronné’ Orne, early 20th century H. 2.5 cm – W. 9.7 cm – D. 6 cm Corrosion on the pins that allow the lid to pivot. A crack and some stains.
