Description
Set of four cattle brands
Made of wrought iron and wood (two of them). One design features the initial ‘S’ within an openwork, serrated circle surmounted by a fleur-de-lis. Wooden handle. A second, solid design bearing the initials ‘N.D // A.D’ within a teardrop-shaped motif. Turned wooden handle. Two designs made entirely of wrought iron; one has a square head bearing the initials ‘PSAL’, set between crossed key shafts. The other model bears the initials ‘C.G N’ above a small flower, all set within a coat of arms. The opposite end bears the date ‘1789’ (the last digit is somewhat illegible).
19th and late 19th centuries
Lengths ranging from 33 to 59 cm
Minor damage to the model bearing the initials ‘N.D // A.D’, with cracks in the wooden handles.
