Description
Cow or ox collar
Made of wrought iron. Consists of a chain with figure-of-eight links, embellished with flat rings featuring grooved patterns and dots stamped with a punch, with two large, decorated circular plates. Two further curved plates complete the collar: one, bearing the owner’s initials ‘BC’, sits at the nape of the neck. The second is openwork and is designed to hold a bell. The bell is adorned with four small plaques: a full-length Virgin and Child, a likeness of Vercingetorix, Saint Peter, and another bust of the Virgin and Child.
