Description
Christening cards Cardboard, fabric and embossed paper. Three cardboard boxes with flap lids, each containing one or more christening cards, folded inside an envelope which is placed against the back of a religious motif: the infant Jesus from the nativity scene, Michelangelo’s angel and the infant Jesus. Texts in German, visible dates: ‘1890’ and ‘1909’. Belonged to ‘Frieda’ and ‘Gustave’ (inscriptions in graphite on the back of the boxes). Probably Alsace, late 19th century, early 20th century H. 12 cm – W. 8.5 cm Damage, losses and restoration. Reproduced in the book ‘La passion du savoir-faire – Collection Pierre Hénin’, Atelier Baie, 2011, page 134
