Description
‘The Crucifixion’
Made of natural and polychrome wood. A cabinet with two hinged doors, simply moulded on the outside, with two small knobs for opening, resting on four tall legs, featuring a drawer at the bottom and an arched pediment. The interior is adorned with Christ on the cross, flanked by four bouquets in pots, with the Virgin Mary at his feet, kneeling and imploring, framed by two candle-bearing angels in prayer. On the steps of the plinth, five cherubs are seated, holding the Arma Christi in their hands. The scene is set within a niche, adorned with carved florets painted blue, as is the background. Beneath this scene, the body of Christ lies at rest, as if in his tomb.
