Description
BURGUN SCHVERER (Lorraine Art Glass) "Cassandra on the Walls of Troy" An oval-shaped double-walled glass vase on a small foot, with a wide neck and a single handle, in shades of amber, yellow and opalescent, enhanced by bands of green marbling interspersed throughout. The decoration is engraved and painted in polychrome enamels and gold; the central section features a cartouche depicting a mythological scene, whilst the rest of the piece is adorned with stylised foliage, friezes, animals, palmettes and flowers. Signed ‘Meisenthal B. S & Co’ within a sun motif, beneath the base. H: 17 cm An opal, yellow and amber-tinted double-layer glass vase by Burgun Schverer, with a finely etched, polychromatic and gold-enamelled decoration featuring a central mythological scene and, across the rest of the piece, stylised plants, friezes, animals, palmettes and flowers. Signed beneath the base “Meisenthal B. S & Co”, within a sun.
