Description
BURGUN SCHVERER (Lorraine Art Glassworks) A colourless crystal vase with a honey-amber lining, enhanced with green interlaying powders, featuring a rounded body, a small recessed foot and a straight, rimmed neck. Rich decoration, finely engraved and painted with polychrome hard enamels and gold, featuring a cartouche depicting a chariot race on the body, and, on the rest of the piece, a frieze of palmettes, stylised flowers and geometric motifs. Gold signature within a thistle and the Cross of Lorraine: ‘Verrerie d’Art de Lorraine B.S.C déposé’, beneath the base. H: 15 cm (bubbles in the interlayer powders, some of which have burst on the surface) A transparent and amber-honey-tinted double-layer crystal vase by Burgun & Schverer, with green interlayer powders and a finely etched, polychromatic and gold-enamelled decoration depicting a chariot race on the belly, surrounded by friezes of stylised palmettes, flowers and geometric patterns. Gold signature “Verrerie d’Art de Lorraine B.S.C déposé”, beneath the base, within a Lorraine thistle and featuring a Lorraine cross.
