Désiré CHRISTIAN (1846–1907) in Meisenthal ‘Flowers and Butterflies’ A coloquinte-shaped vase with an off-centre neck, hot-formed from multi-layered glass, featuring an engraved design in reserve of foliage, pumpkin flowers and brown butterflies on a green-tinted background with brown undertones, featuring burst silver flecks and a serpentine glass stem hot-applied to the body of the vase. Signed “D Christian Meisenthal Loth”. H: 21 cm (internal bubbles and one burst bubble on the surface) A “Fleurs et papillons” (“Flowers and butterflies”) multilayer glass vase designed by Désiré Christian at Meisenthal, with an etched and wheel-outlined decoration of foliage and squash flowers on a brownish-green background with scattered silver leaves. It features a hot-applied serpentine glass stem. Signed “D Christian Meisenthal Loth”.
