‘Lion – torch holder’
design produced in 1865 and 1876
An important pair of earthenware torch holders with a high-fire blue monochrome glazed finish, accented with low-fire red and gold highlights on a tin-glazed base.
Signature painted in blue on the bases: “Gallé Nancy E ‡ G déposé” on one and “Gallé Nancy E ‡ G déposé” on the other, and embossed in the clay “E Gallé Nancy” on one and “‡ G Modèle Déposé” on the other.

A pair of “Lions – candelabras”, blue, red, gold and white enamelled earthenware candelabras designed by Émile Gallé and made from 1865 to 1867. Signed “Gallé Nancy E ‡ G déposé” on one and “Gallé Nancy E ‡ G déposé” on the other, plus “E Gallé Nancy” on one and “‡ G Modèle Déposé” on the other.
