Emile GALLE (1846–1904) Probably made in Raon-l’Etape circa 1880–1890 A rare gilded bronze chandelier with twelve arms and three suspension chains, supporting twelve candle holders and a hook cover in polychrome and gold-glazed earthenware with an Imari floral design, and a large bowl depicting a vine, grapes and a relief figure of Bacchus. Signature cast into the metal: “E. Gallé Nancy E ‡ G Déposé”. H: 105 cm, DL: 70 cm A rare chandelier, designed by Émile Gallé and most certainly made at Raon-l’Étape around 1880–1890, with a twelve-light gilded bronze structure supporting twelve polychromatic enamelled earthenware candle holders and a canopy, featuring an Imari design, whilst the large central basin depicts vines, grapes and the face of the god Bacchus. Moulded “E. Gallé Nancy E ‡ G Déposé” signature. H: 41.34 inches, DL: 27.56 inches
