Emile GALLE (1846–1904) ‘Heraldic Lion’ circa 1890 Amber-coloured glass vase in the shape of a cornet, with the base and neck edged with friezes of small waves applied whilst hot and rubbed with gold. Rich engraved decoration featuring three medallions bearing a heraldic lion and friezes of stylised foliage, surrounded by two friezes of floral garlands in polychrome hard enamels and featuring hot-applied cabochons. Signed ‘Gallé’ in reserve, beneath the base. H: 25 cm An ‘Heraldic Lion’ amber-tinted translucent glass vase by Émile Gallé, with hot-applied and gold-rubbed wave friezes on the base and neck. Rich etched decoration comprising three medallions featuring heraldic lions amidst stylised foliage scrolls, with hot-applied cabochons, framed by two polychromatic enamelled friezes. Signed “Gallé” in reserve, beneath the base. H: 9.84 inches
