Emile GALLE (1846–1904) ‘Orchid inlay’ Circa 1897 A multi-layered glass vase in shades of satin-finish yellow and milky white, with interlayers of polychrome metal oxides and a marquetry, engraved and lathe-turned decoration of flowering orchids, rendered in panels and filaments. “Gallé” signature engraved in intaglio within the decoration H: 18 cm A “Orchid marquetry” vase in silky yellow and milky-white multilayer glass made by Émile Gallé circa 1897, with interlayers of polychromatic metal oxides and an inlaid, etched and wheel-contoured decoration of orchid flowers. Signed “Gallé” within the decoration.
