Emile GALLE (1846–1904) “Orchid marquetry” * dated 1900, no doubt for the World’s Fair (the decorative style itself dates from 1897) A rounded, multi-layered glass bowl on a small round foot. Decorated with purple and light brown orchids with yellow, red and green stamens, applied using marquetry and entirely wheel-engraved on a colourless, opalescent white, pale orange and light-coloured background. Signature engraved in double line within the ‘Gallé’ design and dated ‘1900’. H: 10 cm, D: 16 cm * dated 1900, likely for the Universal Exhibition (the décor itself dates from 1897) A “Orchids” multilayer glass bowl with a rounded shape on a small round foot, featuring a design of purple and light brown orchids with yellow, red and green stamens, applied in marquetry and fully wheel-engraved on a colourless, opalescent white, pale orange and light background. Signed “Gallé” within the design and dated “1900”.
