Paul NICOLAS (1875–1952) “Roses in a Frieze” A baluster-shaped, multi-layered glass vase with a deep-recessed engraved decoration featuring two friezes of stylised roses in the upper and lower sections, and in the centre, red roses with finely veined petals amongst thorny branches laden with leaves. Signed “P. Nicolas Nancy” in reserve, within the decoration. H: 35.5 cm A “Roses en frise” (“Roses in a frieze”) multilayer glass vase designed by Paul Nicolas, with a deeply etched design featuring two stylised rose friezes on the upper and lower sections and a central design of red roses with finely veined petals amongst thorny branches laden with leaves. Signed “P. Nicolas Nancy” within the design. H: 13.98 inches
