Description
DAUM - Nancy "Lorraine 1914–1916" circa 1919–1922 A rare commemorative vase in slightly opalescent glass, decorated with polychrome hard-enamel and gold paint; on one side, a lion with the Cross of Lorraine surmounting the inscription “Lorraine 1914–1916”, and on the other side, a thistle, highlighted in gold. The background is clouded with interlayered ochre-orange and brown powders. Signed “DN”, with a wheel motif within the decoration. H: 24 cm A rare, slightly opalescent “Lorraine 1914–1916” memorial glass vase made by Daum – Nancy around 1919–1922, with a polychromatic and gold-enamelled decoration, on one side a lion with a Lorraine cross above the inscription “Lorraine 1914–1916” and on the other a thistle, both set against a background of ochre-brown and orange powders. Wheel-marked “DN”, within the design. H: 9.45 inches Museological information: - One example is held in the collections of the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Nancy under inventory reference 95.1.88.
