FRANCE, in the Asian style, late 19th–early 20th century
Small carved wooden cabinet with open shelves, in the shape of a rectangular column. The top features a slab of pink marble and comprises a drawer at the front, decorated with floral and butterfly motifs in bone inlay, and embellished with bronze ornaments in the centre and on either side of the drawer. The body of the cabinet features a niche with asymmetrical shelves, lined with the original red velvet, and surmounted by a dragon carved in high relief coiling around the crossbar. The piece rests on four claw-foot legs, also embellished with bronze ornamentation.
