Description
A large sideboard in veneered wood, featuring three drawers in a band and two wide doors revealing six drawers. The doors and sides are adorned with circular panels of chiselled and gilded bronze depicting allegorical scenes. Richly ornamented with gilded bronze featuring friezes, acanthus leaves and foliage motifs, with spindle legs. Top in white marble with grey veining.
Dimensions: 94 x 180 x 68 cm
Based on a design commissioned by Marie-Antoinette from the cabinetmakers Joseph Stöckel (1743–1802) and Guillaume Benneman (1750–1811), now in the collection of the Musée du Château de Fontainebleau.
