Gio PONTI (1891–1979) 1920–1930 Ceramic tea or coffee set by Gio Ponti comprising: 1 coffee pot or teapot, 19 × 20 cm, 1 sugar bowl 13x18 cm, 4 cups 5x11 cm and 6 saucers D.15 cm. Marked on the underside of each piece: ‘Richard Ginori S. Cristoforo Milano – Made in Italy’. c.1920–1930. Also included is a large ceramic dish by Gio Ponti for Richard Ginori: 4.5 × 38 cm. Dish: 2 minor chips – Teapot: 1 chip and lid: 1 crack, 1 cup: 1 chip and 1 small chip. Gio Ponti: architect, designer, painter and author. In 1923, he was appointed artistic director of the Richard-Ginori factory, founded in 1737.
