‘La lionne’ An exceptional bronze with a brown patina, cast by Alexis Rudier. Height: 25 cm. Length: 61 cm and Width: 27 cm. Signed on the plinth ‘G. GUYOT’ and stamped ‘Alexis RUDIER. Fondeur PARIS’, circa 1920.
This work is undoubtedly a unique sculpture, much like the polar bear, another famous one-off piece by Guyot cast by Alexis Rudier.
Provenance: This work, acquired by a famous writer, has been preserved by his descendants.
Georges Guyot was in vogue from the early 20th century onwards. In 1931, he joined the Group of Twelve founded by François POMPON. He occupied Picasso’s studio at the Bateau-Lavoir, where he died on 31 December 1972.
