A dance mask with a human face, featuring a slightly parted mouth with metal teeth, a large, flat nose, bulging eyes
and a rounded forehead. The area around the face is made up of wooden teeth, fabric, upholstery tacks and cartouches.
These masks were used during funeral ceremonies and could also act as ‘detective masks’ by identifying a person guilty of crimes. – Expert: Laurent DODIER
