Description
Suite of four armchairs. The seats have trapezoidal cabriolet moulded backs. They are supported by turned fluted balusters adorned with pods. The scalloped belt is moulded with a mouchette on three sides. It is decorated with quarter leaves in the front masses, the seats are supported by a turned, tapered, fluted base. Stamped on the front and back crosspieces by Noël Toussaint PORROT. Parisian work from the Louis XVI period. Noël Toussaint Porrot received his master's degree in Paris on 22 July 1761. NB: These seats are fitted with brackets to reinforce the belts. One of the arms connecting the backrest is damaged. They were painted in the 18th century. H. 86 - D. 48 - W. 58 cm. Noël Toussaint Porrot (Master in 1761); produced a wide variety of armchairs, sofas and daybeds. Although his style is described as traditional, his works are characterised by balanced proportions and meticulous craftsmanship. His "à la reine" or cabriolet chairs are often decorated with delicate sculptures of flowers and foliage, typical of the charm of the Louis XV and early Louis XVI periods.
