Christian Weppe, known by his artist name ‘Chris’, is a self-taught painter originally from
the Hauts-de-France region. He discovered his passion for painting at a very early age, having begun
to practise it at the age of 10. His style, both unconventional and eclectic, is characterised by a
strong artistic sensibility and a variety of themes explored.
His artistic world is deeply influenced by Rembrandt and Vermeer, whom he discovered
during a trip to Amsterdam. This influence is evident in the composition and treatment
of many of his works.
Chris gained some recognition when he was awarded the 1st Grand Prix by the
Besserat de Bellefon in Reims, which marked the beginning of a series of numerous
awards. Finally, in 2016, he was awarded the Léopold Sédar
Senghor European Francophonie Prize, presented by the Cénacle Européen de Paris.
Furthermore, Chris’s works have also been exhibited in several prestigious venues,
notably at the Palais Rihour in Lille, the Palais d’Europe, and La Concorde in Paris,
demonstrating the significance of his artistic work.
