First Communion gift set comprising: 1) A Holy Land missal, published by Marchet Roux & Cie in Dijon, bound in green leather with the initials ‘M P’ in gold (eagle’s head hallmark), the interior decorated with a small-scale ironwork frieze of festoons surmounted by leafy florets, birds and green moiré silk; gilt edges; circa 1900; H. 15 cm, W. 11.5 cm, gross weight: 455 g. 2) A green box-style card holder, marked ‘M P’ in gold, with two gussets and two compartments, featuring a pencil with a bone handle, H. 12 cm, W. 7 cm, gross weight: 29 g, 3) A green box-style purse with three gussets and one compartment, H. 5.5 cm, W. 8 cm. All contained in a black shagreen box with a gold-embossed frieze, bearing the inscription ‘au bon marché 32 (fr)’ on the underside. The Missal is light and worn, the notebook shows signs of rubbing, the purse appears to have been unused, and the box has scratches and small chips.
