Chair, Height 94.5 cm, Width 51 cm
Provenance :
- Commissioned by the Duc de Penthièvre for the Château de Chanteloup;
- Former Ganay-Schneider collection.
A number of chairs bearing the Duc de Penthièvre's markings in his various residences are listed, most of them the work of Georges Jacob, his regular joiner. An example of this is Jacob's salon furniture for the Château d'Amboise, whose armchairs and chairs are very similar in design (flat back and baluster armrests), but smaller in size (only 91.5 cm high for the armchair) and simply moulded (without sculpture), sold at Saint-Martin-des-champs, by Dupont et associés, on 7 March 2023, lot 531.
