Portable octagonal equinoctial sundial in engraved platinum silver, with compass and folding gnomon engraved with floral motifs. Signed Butterfield A Paris. On the reverse, the compass bowl bears the inscription Claude Vincent 1706, probably the name of the owner, and the back of the frame bears the latitudes of the fifteen major European cities. Original shagreen case.
