Circular tea table in mahogany, pewter inlay and Turquin blue marble, the top resting on a pearl-decorated belt supporting a second top with a leafy bronze shaft, the antique green patinated wood uprights with eagle heads joined by a triangular spacer top surmounted by a vase; (accidents, notably to the marble top; missing). Consulate period, circa 1800. Height 90 cm; Diameter: 78 cm The principle of the tea table, the first examples of which, also in mahogany, can be found in the work of Adam Weisweiler, was widely adopted from the end of the 18th century, notably by cabinet-makers such as Bernard Molitor, Jean-Joseph Chapuis and the Maison Jacob. Provenance : - Cited in the inventory of the Château de Roche drawn up in 1917 for М. and Mlle de La Haye-Montbault by Maître Lasquin.
